CK5 - The Full-Size GM Off Road Community

So has anyone been on these trails ? I have been to the entrance but not been on any trails there.I just wondered what they were like ? EXTREME or MILD ????? thinking of going in the next couple of weeks. any info would be great. Thanks

i always heard there straight uphill and when wet you need lockers and a winch

thanks for the reply. The winch I have lockers on the other hand have'nt made it into my budget YET.

The Club BigJBear and I roll with does the maintance on those trails. They are fun but some are steep so fair warning if you stall nose up your going to have problems there.

Call the Rangers office before going. With all the rain they have been locking it up to keep errosion down. They had it shut down last Friday and Saturday.

Stu and I went up there on sat 7/10. It was great. Still a little wet in spots but not bad at all. I will post some pics later. stu beat up his ride a little but it did really well considering it was made after 92...he he /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif we got his truck stuck pretty good. there were alot of people around on 4 wheelers to help out. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
I Got a few dings and bent the tailpipe pretty good while backing out of a hole. but over all it was a great ride. I would make a few suggestions as far as what you need to really ride everything. 33" tires min. some kind of lift and a winch or come along. then all the other crap you should have in the back of your truck anyways. next time we go I would like to have some more people with us. we were lucky that there were some people around willing to help. /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif

Yep, it was a blast. I have lots of new wrinkles down both sides of the Tahoe (badges of honor, I say), but it was great.

Gabe is right. 33" minimum, tire size, lockers and a winch to do it right and not risk death/abandoning your truck/a long hike.
