I don't suppose it's too early to start talking about the whens and wheres of this, eh?
Last year at Pismo it was great fun. I'd suggest somewhere where camping is near to a nice place to 'wheel (even for weenie-wheelers like me).
I wish I didn't work week-ends!Because I know the next one will be on one.I think I'm starting to feel sick that week-end,cough,cough...hack,hack.

Cool lets start planing!! Mabie start with when then were??
Hows August? Or June? Mabie the weekend AFTER 4th of July?? Anyone ever camp at Hollister? What about in the Sierras, out by Bass lake or Shaver lake?? I guess it would depend on were everyone is comming from so we can find a center point! Keep the ideas flowing!!

Isn't Hollister a bit hot durring summer(june-aug)?? Not exactly how hot it gets there. I don't mine coming from a place that gets 115 during summers, but others may.
Hollister, Pismo, it's still hellofa long way for me, but then again i don't do this every summer.

Details - we need details
What is this - a wheeling event? or just camping?
I'm in Oregon and interested...

Well last year a bunch of us in California wanted to get together and wheel & camp. So we ment up at Pismo Duneshttp://www.burt4x4.coloradok5.com (http://burt4x4.coloradok5.com/pismo8_00.htm>http://burt4x4.coloradok5.com/pismo8_00.htm</A>)
oh yea, it's good to start early since a lot(if not all) of state parts require reservations.
Also, if anyone is interested. I am doing a run across(mexicali-san felipe) what was the laguna salada in baja the weekend of april 21. It'll probably be a saturday thing, if nothing breaks then camp out in san felipe. Email me if interested(arqdennis@eudoramail.com)

Any time is good for me.
Hey Burt4x4, remember last year we tried to do the weekend after the 4th of July, then kept putting it off until August??? LOL!
Hollister sounds good if there's somewhere to camp nearby. Fort Hunter Liggett might be fun because they have their "Primitive Camp Ground" and a lot of land, but I'm not sure about 'wheeling opportunities (Steve S., You out there???)...
gokartergo
03-12-2001, 07:40 PM
Hollister doesn't get that hot. We maybe get 6 days total a year that it gets over 100. We have a lot of diffrent places to camp. And 4 wheel. Hollister hills,Clear Creek, Panoche hills & Tumuy hills. All within a hour of each other.

Make this an annual event, then have it in montrose, CO in 2002 and i'll be there.
I have a little baby girl coming so big wheeling events are taking the back seat till she can safely come with. :):)

So I plan on being there Friday am July 13th to set up camp and get a few trail rides in before dinner. Anyone else gonna show up Friday?

Ok I need to now how many. I made reservations today. If we get around 50 rigs. They will basicaly shut down the park for us only. But we need over fifty. The park chargers $4.00 per rig per day for wheelin. And $6.00 per rig per day for camping. I talked with the ranger there we have group 5 campground reserved under CALIFORNIA CK5 BLAZER-FEST we can have up to 100 rigs. I need to now how many people and how many rigs. And dogs are OK has long has they are on leashes. That campground also has showers.. Please email me at DMDJ@PACBELL.NET

It's a "markup" tag thing. See the FAQ at:
<A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/faq_english.pl?Cat=#html>http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/faq_english.pl?Cat=#html</A>
FWIW, I hate "markup" because I do a bit of hand-coding of HTML and I usually end up typing in the HTML tags and having to swap them out for "markup."

Dude I haven't had a good pig roast sence 94! Never did a wild boar before but we (my father) use to raise pigs and would allways keep one whole (well he would saw it in half long ways) and had a big pit in the ground with steel grates accross and a bunch of oak wood burning. Toss the sucker on and flip it with a pitch fork. Beautiful!!! http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/smile.gif
Sup to you Dan!! I would eat it thats for sure!!

HHHHEEEEEEYYYYYAAAA Splitfire which is also HURCULINER just emailed me. They are giving a bag of stuff for everybody. Well the first 60 people. They are also giving shirts, Gift certificates for plugs, and some herculiner. To make this far. I am going to reserve the first 60 bags for those who sign up first. So far we have 48 people. If we get more then 60. Then the bags go to who ever doesn't show up. Does that sound ok. I also just sent in the snail mail 60 diffrent request for items to everybody fram ARB TO DANA TO EDELBROCK and a lot more companys..Sound fair? Dan

Dan that sounds more than fair. You've put a lot of effort into making this a really cool thing as far as the ressies for Hollister and the freebies go. Last year, we just got together and had some fun. This year, we get some freebies thrown in. How cool is that? Very.
I just wanted to post my kudos to you publically.

Hey, 72blazer4x4 your in CA. and your not on the list we need to make it 50 and we are at 49 right now. I told Steve Fox that I would right up a trail report on the Blazer-Fest. I would like somebody to volunteer to do this. I have a digital camera and will take tons of pics. I have 2 cards so I could hold 98 pics and when full I live a few miles away from Hollisterhills so I could download them. I am not that good of a writer and I am sure somebody else could do it better then me.They could also submit it to Peterson's and fouywheeler Any volunteers..........Dan

Frizz, I'm not sure if I can get Friday off, but I'm going to try. I will also probably have to meet up with my buddy from Napa somewhere (San Jose or Morgan Hill are logical places to meet up with him). A convoy would be good.
email me: bigiron@pacbell.net
OK, I have arranged to take Friday the 13th off. I should be loading up on Thursday evening, finishing loading on Friday morning, and should be leaving my place about 10:00 on Friday morning. I'll have to check with my buddy to firm up that timetable since he has to come a little farther than me and I want to meet up with him somewhere.<P ID="edit"><FONT SIZE=-1>Edited by Steve_Chin on 06/20/01 12:03 PM (server time).</FONT></P>
