Did any of the 1972 Blazers have shoulder belts or lap belts only?
The Blazer I have has bucket seats and a console.
At this time I only have one lap belt in the Blazer for myself and I'm
looking for a set for the front and back.Today I did notice a hole where
it looks like a shoulder belt would go but I'm not sure??
Thanks for any help with this matter as I'm a first time Blazer owner of
only 1 week.

My 72 blazer only has lap belts. I don't think they came with shoulder belts.

And,If they did what would you do when the top was off??
I'm thinking lap only myself now.

I'll be welding on a tab on the roll bar so I can have shoulder belts. Thats how them jeeps do it. Our trucks didn't get shoulder belts till 76.
Diging it in the dirt with my K5's

They are correct, '72's had lap only. retractable belt (male end) on the outboard side of the seats, fixed belt (female) on inboard. You should see holes in the floors for the brackets. As far as the back, I'll have to check.

Any idea at all what the holes would be for??
They are right at head level on both sides of the top.
It sure looks like if you tried to put in other belts they
would work as long as the top was on.
But,if they did not come that way I dont want to do
that! Thanks for all the help!!

I have the original shoulder straps for my 72CST. They were in the glovebox when I bought it from the original owner. I've never tried to use them but I'm pretty sure they go in the holes that are being discussed here.

There were sholder belts from the factory. They were like a lap belt over the shoulder. They even had thier own buckle.

There was a thread similar to this one on Blazer-Net. There were a couple of guys who had the original optional non-retractable shoulder belts and extra buckles.
FWIW, the driver's side lap belt is the same as in the pickups, but the passenger's side belt is a bit different. More like a Chevelle or Camaro lap belt.

The holes in the top that you are referring too on both of the tops I have dealt with seem to be where a brace in the top goes and connects in those holdes with a smooth peg that doesnt stick out beyond the inner side of the top. I have seen some other tops where these holes were just empty.

If anyone wants to sell there set of factory shoulder belts, I would be interested, as I never remove my top.
