From what I've read, the front axles from a Gen2 Blazer will swap into a Gen1, but will the front springs swap in without any problems?

the springs will swap in but they will make the axel sit back about 1/2" to 1". It will not be a problem with smaller tires but once you start putting 33 or bigger you'll notice the rubbing while turning.

No, the front springs on '73 + are longer (2" ) than the 72' trucks. As for the axle, 10 bolts bolt in no problem. My lil' bro' runs a 19 bolt in his '70.

What I believe to be true (could be wrong) is that just about all of the front chevy straight axles are interchangeable. The rear axles are interchangeable also you just need to move the spring pads and the shock mounts if your donor truck is a 1/2 or 3/4 ton. The 1 ton axles will bolt right up to our trucks thou. If you have a 73 and up K5 the rear 1/2 and 3/4 ton axles will bolt right up and you will have to move the sring pads if you get a axle from a 1 ton. At least thats what I understand, anyone else can jump in at anytime. As far as the springs go, I am not sure.

I have a freind who actually just put a set of 73- up springs on his 72 blazer. 10 inchers. He said the rear eye of the spring sits back around two inches farther than the stock ones.

Bolting in a 1976 10.5" 14-bolt rear axle into my 72 is gonna require movin the axle tube pads, correct ??
At least thats what I have been told, anyways.
Where do I find new spring pads to fit the bigger (3.5") tubes ?
Im not gonna want to reuse the old ones once they are cut off....

your local 4x4 shop should be able to get you some for around 12 dollars or a local parts supplier could charge you up to 20 dollars. Just ask for spring pads for a 73 and up FF14 bolt.

Coil sprung 71 blazer.

A 3/4 ton 14 bolt will require you to move the spring perches but a 1 ton 14 bolt will bolt right up without moving the spring perches. For the perches there are a few companies that make them and your local 4x4 shop should be able to order them i think they are around $30-$35

I need about another 1.5" of lift in the rear so I think I am going to do this to my 14B with a xtra .5" on the spring perches and then get the ORD 1" add a leafs.

That's a pretty cool-looking mod, but it looks very heavy. I would guess that most don't care about that, though. One thing I would add to those perches is drain holes in front of and behind the axle tube...
