View Full Version : Question! half-cab???

I seem to have remembered seeing half-cab type blazers in the past, that look just like a regular pick up, however the cabs roof came off, just like a blazer. The pick up bed portion was made of regular uncarpeted steel, do you follow me? A pick up with the removable cab roof portion, just like a blazer. Maybe I'm delerious, but I cant find any mention of this option at all on the internet, anyone have a clue to what I'm talking about!!!???

I just bought a blazer with this top. It is an aftermarket made by Glasstite. I don't think they make the top anymore.

You're not delirious, they made Blazers and Jimmys with the 1/2 top.Had a Jimmy like that only 10 miles from me,nice truck all original. Not sure where you can find the top or if anyone makes a replacement though.

There is a company in California that bought the tooling for the half tops i believe. I dont know the name but have heard discussion of them on the pickup board a week or so ago.

Brandon Vaughns Longview Blazer site has some nice pics. Brandon emailed me last year when I asked
about their availabilty. He said they were manufactured by a company in Minnesota now out of business. I
did see this topic discussed recently on this site. Check out the pics.

I have such a top on my 71 blazer, I though and still think that someone has made this from a regular pickup, but not for sure.

I found that the mold was sold to Onnis Newell @ 559/299-8333. I havent called him yet to see if he is making any of them or not. I called and left him a message.

The half top was not factory. The company did go out of business, I haven't heard anything about the "new" owner of the mold, just rumors. If you have one, it would be an even trade for a good full top with a good hatch.

Try http://www.usbodysource.com They make fiberglass half tops for trucks. Maybe you could customize it to work for your Blazer. They have pictures of the top on there.

I wonder if you could cut the top off a 72 truck and use it as a half top? Do the half tops go all the to the floor or only to the top of the bed rails?

Anything's possible, SMP... From what I've read, the half-tops went all the way to the floor of the bed.

Theres a steel insert that fits flush with the top of the bedrail, then the fiberglass top bolts to that and the ewindshield bolts like the factory top. I love mine.

I think the truck cab idea is good but it may be too heavy. Just a thought.
