Ok after all the looking for a sports car, I just decided I still need a truck to haul stuff and all. Here's my parameters:

Needs a truck bed
Very reliable
Enough clearance to do dirt trails (2wd probably)
Under $4000
20+ Mpg

I've been searching for a '90 to '92 Ford Ranger Ext Cab pickup (I'm 6'4"). I have a devious other side to wanting this truck. They're super easy to throw prerunner suspension on so I can race Tuff Truck again down the road. Also, it'd be super cool to find a wrecked out 5.0 mustang and swap drivetrain. Anyone know of any for sale in the north texas/southern oklahoma area or have any other suggestions concerning this purchase?

Thanks,
Bryan

I don't, but I like the 5.0/prerunner thing, other than it's the wrong make, didn't think you could post this with out hearing that did you?

Don't do it! I'm 6'5" tall and that truck is incredibly uncomfortable. At first you think the seats are ok, but after about 15 minutes in them you realize that your head is creeping closer to your ass because of the horrible support they have. You couldn't pay me to drive one again!

Thanks muddin4fun, but this one has to be economical I guess. I'll have a 60 mile round trip commute each day. Thanks for the other input as well. I think I'm going to stick with the ranger idea too, may get a custom seat for it though. I'm looking hard, anyone sees any around here, give me a shout. Thanks.

I hear that BlazerGuy. One other thing - I worked with two guys that had Rangers. They both hated them. One of them had the little 4-banger in it. The problem was that it had 8 spark plugs! 4 were easy to get out, but the other 4 needed a bunch of extensions, universals, and prayers to get out. He traded it in for a Chevy.
