CK5 - The Full-Size GM Off Road Community

I just caught the last bit of the news, something about the corvette (allways gets my attention) won the top muscle car challenge for 2001. Beat out the No. 2 Vipper. Whos got info on this?

By the way, we got a 2001 Z06 'vette in at work today, 385 hp, coup.-Cool, Very cool. $50,000.- Not very cool. But better than a Vipper's $80gs(?).

I like the Vette a lot better than the Viper.... Not enough HP out of a V10....

I don't know who did the test, I was looking at this screen, and heard "Corvette won muscle car of the year, beating out the no 2 viper" from the T.V. Thats it, thats all I got. Hope someone knows more.

Sweet, some day I will own one, it's been my dream car since I was a kid. You can't beat a Vette for a combination of power, styling and hadling.

Have you poked around a new vette (C-5)? They are almost as areodynamic underneath as they are on top. If you ever get the chance to just turn the key from off to run, do it and watch the gages- very cool. I've never diven one, bt I hear they are awesome! The z06 vette takes the place of the old zr1s.

I love the Corvette as much as anybody, but I don't see Chevy keeping up with that.

I worked for Chevy for alot of years and managed to drive quite a few of the new vettes. Veeerrrry fast. Driving them at 40mph and then flooring it to 100mph is unbelievable. The SS Camaro is very fast also.

For 80 grand I'd expect more than 500 ponies(although 500 isn't badhttp://www.coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/wink.gif)

I think for another 100k you can get your viper up to 830hp, seems like a lot of money. Someday I want to own either a Camaro, or a 'Vette to go along with my K5.

I'm not too much of a newer vette guy. I work on 2 C5's and 2 C4's at the shop. Fun cars, but would much rather have an older vette... Anything 82 and back http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/smile.gif. Lingenfelter and Doug Rippie both have C5 Twin Turbo cars available that make anywheres from 600 to 800 some hp. Hennisey also make a few different Vipers that can be up to 800 horse.

1987 Chevy K5 Blazer- 350 TBI

A guy at work has got a stock C5 Z06 (somewhere between 97 and 99) and says It'll do 200 given a long enough peice of road. Another guy at work is debating between a Viper an a Vette. I'm thinking about "breaking" my Blazer and bumming a ride home with one of them.
