I need to remove the rear window in my 75 Firebird to weld up some rust and install the rest of my rear quarter. I want to know how hard this is before I try and do it. It looks like the rear window trim would be tough, but I haven't tried it yet. Should be picking up my final rear quarter piece, 74 Formula hood, and Saginaw 4 speed tomorrow! Woohoo!

Get a trim removal tool. Lisle, K-D, and a lot of others make 'em. They're easy to operate (stick 'em under the trim, slide along the trim until they contact a retaining clip, twist slightly to release the retaining clip, repeat for the next clip until you're done).
WRT removing the glass itself, use patience... The factory literature says to use music wire stretched between two wooden dowels to separate the adhesive. That works great. In a pinch, I removed the rear window from a '71 Firebird in the junk yard with nothing more than a pair of cabinet-tipped screwdrivers and my dull pocket knife (and a lot of time).

Thanks Steve. I should be attacking that next weekend. I've got plenty of used guitar strings lying around, so I should be able to do it easily.

Music wire is a bit different than guitar strings are... It's a fairly stiff, small diameter steel wire. Most hardware stores carry it...

Oh, ok. I'll check that out. It might be a while before I get to do any more work on my car. My parents are moving soon and my car is in their garage. God forbid I mess up the garage when someone comes to look at it! Oh well.....
