A friend of mine has a dark blue one with a turbo diesel in it. He cranked the boost waaay up and built a posi-rearend in it. It is actually surprisingly quick. He actually put a set of Magnesium 500s on the back off his Camaro and drove it around with the back all jacked up. It was pretty funny.

That sucker is pretty cherry! I think you have come down w/ my disease lara... It's called too many projects then time and $$$ allow for... With the Camaro and the Blazer also looking for mods... I hope you're playing the Lotto LOL http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/smile.gif. I'd keep it as the daily driver when cars are down or occasion sunday cruiser to the lake or whereever. Then mod the Blaze and the IROCZ up! http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Well you see, it's the only one that doesn't run right now (besides the '56). It won't start. http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/mad.gif. Since it's warmed up, I'll look at it again. When it's below freezing, I don't like to work on it as much http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Did you say that was a diesel in chat when we talked? I can't remember for sure... if it is you may find better luck w/ warmer temps and plugging it in. Old diesels are a pain.

That's surprising it doesn't run. Those Mercedes diesels last forever.
You do seem to have the disease that Capn Crunch and I have! Too many projects, not enough money. I have all these cars and I have all these plans for them, but none of them seem to be getting any work done to them!

Capt,
yep, that's the one! This is the first time this car has ever acted up this way!
Blaze,
500,000 miles....not rebuilt. That car is amazing! I might think about putting the 5 cyl turbo in it and crank the turbo up. That car is just slow as hell by today's standards. You have to floor it to keep up with anything! LOL! Nick hates that car. LOL! It's too slow for him. He doesn't have all the memories like I have with it though.
Imagine a cowgirl twirling a rope.

OK, never mind! Geez, 500k miles? That's a lot of miles. And I thought the 158k on my S-10 Blazer is a lot!

Oh yeah... that is some milage LOL. She maybe meeting her doom http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/frown.gif. Not sure how much fabricating would need to be done to drop a nice small block in there... but that would be cool. Maybe just switch the 350 TPI and 700R4 into it from the Camaro and get some BANG! for the IROC... That or I have always been a fan of dropping 3.8L motors in from the family cars... Bonnevilles, Riv's, Olds, etc. Pretty peppy and very economical http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/crazy.gif... Last option just go a 8.5 to 1 compression 541 BBC Stroker w/ a Blower and street scoop sticking out of the hood... Oh yeah... http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I'd like to keep it a sleeper. It'd be a great road trip car if it had some power! It's a handlein SOB with the 4 wheel independent suspension. Maybe find one of those buicks with the kick @ss turbo charged 6cyl. We might even pull a vortec 4.8 out of an s-10...ya know the 200hp ones? Nick's dad has the fast s-10 with the camaro wheels.....it's pretty quick and that truck and this car weigh about the same. I need to put a different rear end in it. It's making some noise and I want to change the gear ratio anyway and put a od auto tranny in it.
The interior is just about flawless. No cracks or rips. The drivers seat is a little worn, but that's it. All leather (real leather). When you shut the door, it still does that nice quiet clunk like new cars and you can still smell the leather inside. I'm very proud of my old man car! I've got to get that thing running http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

I'd think on doing that turbodiesel swap for this car. It'd be quicker than stock but still reliable as long as the waste gate isn't cranked up too high.

Fix it, polish it up, store it and sell it for thousands of $$$ in 20 years. Especially if it's a rare color.

I would keep the stock outward appearance as close as I could and drop a newer LT-1/4L60E combo in it. If the F-body diff is too wide for the car you could use a Mustang 8.8 or better yet the Exploder 8.8 that comes stock with rear discs and 3.73's...or just fix the diff on the Benz...lol
I agree on a quiet muffler, a delta flow 70 series 2/1/2" single would do nicely!
Keep the deisel emblems too...let em wonder!

There was a pic on here or somewhere of a Mercedes very similar to that one on a blazer frame with Super Swampers. Or was it a convert? :)
