Good deal man. Yeah, I'm right here on top of you (literally) because I'm staying at Mountaineer Apartments. Hell I walk by your dorm to go to class.

I have only seen two K5's up here and they didn't look too capable, so I'm going to have to break it out on them with the Beater Truck. I've got to go home Labor Day weekend and finish it, then I can come up here and show these Heep guys what it's about.

You said it brother. I have seen maybe 4 or 5 k5's up here, but none of them were representing really well. None of them were on more than half ton running gear. Anyways, drop me a line....my email is hr68675@appstate.edu. We can hang out or talk truck sometimes. Maybe even go wheeling.

Man, sorry. I havent been in the doorm since about thursday. I just now noticed that you sent me an email and I completley forgot about calling you. My bad. Damn. Hit me up on my cell phone (336)707-2802, and you will probably have a much better chance than reaching me on my room phone. Ill remember to give you call tomorrow. Sorry about this weekend man. Too many parties to think about at the same time. lol.

Yes I do. If and when you get it, tire maintance is very important. So make sure you keep the air changed in the tires for proper wear and ride. :wink1:

thanks again john, but i know about tire maintenence, checking the fluids, etc (i drive a commercial horse transport trailer). unfortunately, with this blazer stuff, i have a general knowledge (the guys in high school) but not enough to get specific. i've actually driven this k5 before, and have been trying to get him to sell it to me for the past 4 years; and he is, FINALLY :p: i need tech pointers and descriptions of what i'm looking for. but keep the pointers coming :D

pointers could be better aimed so to speak if we had a better knowledge of your intent for the rig.....

i'd like to do some moderate trails, here in boone and home (waxhaw/monroe area). i dont want tons of heavy performance mods cause i won't really need them for that, just general ground clearance, some good lights for playing in the dark(running from the law, perhaps), tires that will be good for dirt and snow (snows a lot in boone), and it has to be able to keep up with the guys i drive with. anything else you need to know to give "pointers?" :wink1:

well, personally i would go with a 4" shackle flip (ORD, DIY4X, or SKY), and a good set of used 4" springs in the front (Tuff Country EZ's, BDS, etc.) some ORD swaybar Disco's and a set of cheapo 15" rims with some BFG 33" All-terrains. The key is search the for sale forums you can find everything listed used and save big over buying it all new keep in mind you may need new brakelines and could encounter driveline problems etc. so $$ can add up quick if your not careful and don't research previous to buying ;)

bigcountryk5 pretty much has it right.

just check out the beater truck when i get it up here. i've got the epitome of simple mods done to it.

i did the backwoods style shackle flip in the rear for 4" of lift and horsetraded some new 4" fronts. i already had some shocks for a 6" kit. the u-bolts were the most expensive thing. :haha: :haha:

but if you need anything, call me and i'll come over and handle it for ya, or show ya what you need or whatnot.

you guys are so good to me, lol- esp with the 3am "good night" phone call(love you too, ash) :wink1: thanks a bunch. that's actually what we had talked about on Thursday. 4" suspension lift with, 33 or 35"- i already have rims to fit 35's. gonna run out to hcore4x4 on mon and talk to them about it, see what they can do and how much it will cost me.
for a diff question- how much louder will the interior be if i put a fasttrack soft top on it?

Honey we're not building a cruiser. ;) Not being able to hear yourself think is part of the game. We love big tires, low gears, crazy suspension travel, gas guzzling, 500 pony's, and enough torque to turn back time. BTW fastracks are sweet but I couldn't afford one so I just go topless all the time. :D I can almost talk to the person in the pass seat and hear them while driving.

BigOrange90Jimmy
09-17-2005, 05:03 PM
as long as you have the carpet and all, it won't be TOO much louder. those tops fit very nice and tight. it doesn't get really loud until you have the straight pipes like mine did.....then the ASU cops warn you for 19 NOISE COMPLAINTS........IN ONE NIGHT!!!!

missmorgan83
09-17-2005, 06:29 PM
i know it's not a cruiser, but i spend a lot of time in my vehicle.....too much really. it has to be multi purpose. perhaps you've heard of that obscure part of the game ;) :p: ? and as much as i would love to go topless all the time(the blazer...get ur mind out of the gutter, lol), that's not always an option in boone. the weather up here changes like you change underwear. :D

C'mon now, I only live 90 miles south of you in Asheville and the weather doesn't change that much. I know, I'm a weather forecaster :D I could let you know when a good time to go topless is :p:

My K5 is mulitpurpose, just ask any of the guys here that have been on a ride with me. :p:

BTW, your suspose to change your underwear? :what:  :ignore:

your suspose to change your underwear?

All i wanted was a simple post about meeting people near Boone. I didn't say you two could start flirting in MY thread.... :haha: :haha: :haha:

I'm just kidding though.

But to get the full effect of bad timing Morgan, you have to be like me and drive to Virginia with the top and the DOORS off. Let me tell you, that was a fun 4 hour ride home running 70 MPH towing a jet ski in the rain. No kidding, I was so close to hypothermia when I got home. My skin was COLD to the touch for three hours afterwards.

big pappa b- no problem...i'm sure i already have one somewhere :p:

John- change your underwear at least once a day :wink1:

James- i imagine it'll be pretty loud with the soft top cause i drive 70-80 mph on long trips

Ash- it's ok, john said he doesn't live near boone; but you're near buy...help me break it in? :eek1: ;) :D (just kidding) back on subject though, it looks like the top may have some kind of sealant around the seam, but i didn't get a very good look at that...i don't think he's ever had the top off of it. i'm not planning to take the doors off of it...one good turn and there goes the dog :haha:
what did the infirmary say?

ok...which top are you talking about now? hard or soft?

i feel fine now. they said it was probably a side effect of the decongestant i was taking.

missmorgan83
09-19-2005, 06:49 PM
the hard top that's on it right now; looked like sealant/caulk stuff in the seam where the top fits to the body.

glad that it wasn't something serious and that you're ok.

Are talking about the fiberglass top or the metal cab top? The fiberglass (shell, camper, whatever) should just have a rubber seal/gasket. I think there was a factory sealer sometimes used at the cab to tub seam.

missmorgan83
09-19-2005, 07:44 PM
the fiberglass top. it could have been a rubber seal, but like i said i didn't really get a good look at it. whatever it was, it looked cracked/aged so it probably wouldn't hurt if i had it replaced. i'll find out this weekend when i pick it up :D

09-19-2005, 09:34 PM
you're taking me for a ride, right babe? and yeah, it's a rubber seal that's probably dry rotten. not a big hassle to fix.

I WANNA DRIVE!!!!

missmorgan83
09-20-2005, 08:37 AM
of course you get to go for a ride. as for you driving, well...maybe  i just got it!! I WANNA DRIVE!!! :p: i'll probably let you, cause i'm sweet like that, lol.
what are you doing with those 35's that were on yours?
good deal about the dry rot thing. i've dealt with stuff like that before.

sorry about thursday. i got really sick and stayed home and then ended up in the ER on Sat cause i had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics the infirmary gave me :( . i'll be picking the blazer up next weekend.

Girl, you need to call people if you're in that bad a'shape! It's good to know that you're doing ok, though. Give me a call some time.
