go to take apart a furd np205 and even my biggest socket (1-1/4") won't fit over the nut. np... I go to sears, buy a 1-5/16" socket. Which.... of COURSE fits the nut fine, nut won't fit inside the u-joint yoke. Sigh. Is there a special j-tool or is it just a special thin-walled 1-5/16" (as if 1-5/16" wasn't a screwed up size anyway?!?!) or some crap? How annoying. Someone school me up, whats the answer.

Same problem - different town.
I bought the Craftsman 1 5/16" socket and took it to the grinder- just tapering the front section enough to slip in and seat completely around the nut.
Have fun!
-I'd like to know myself of a thinner wall 1 5/16" socket.

Just find a cheaper brand of socket. I found mine at Ace Hardware.

Yah I used a master mechanic brand socket from a True Value hardware store and it worked just fine.

Sounds like the same prob. i had with my dana 60, Its a 1-5/16 thinwall socket. I just grinded the socket to fit and it now works for pinions, ball joints, yoke's etc. Did not take longer then 5 mins of grinding

I just went to NAPA and bought a cheap 1 5/16 socket and worked the end of it over with the bench grinder. Viola! Worked like a champ!

Don't grind on the Sears socket, go find an import 1 5/16" socket, grind on the cheapie. I had the same problem, I used an import socket and still had to turn the end down about 1/16" on the radius.
