CK5 - The Full-Size GM Off Road Community

Lately, my youngest daughter, Vanessa, has taken a lot of interest in my tools. I'll be in the garage having a cigar and she'll wander in and play with my socket set and screwdrivers and wrenches. Well, today she wanted to actually put the tools to use, so I told her to try and take the front plate off of the K5. After about 7 trips back and forth from the tool bench with various tools that wouldn't do the job, she finally came back with a small screwdriver and set about spinning out the screws that hold the front plate on. She took the job very seriously, and I just had to take a pic:

Too Cool. When my oldest son was bout her age, he "helped" me. I was putting headers on a 70 Mustang, and he kept bugging me to help. I told him to fix the shifter. By the time I had the mufflers bolted to the headers, he had the console trim plate off, and was looking for a wrench to unbolt the shifter!

Tommy blew my mind here a while back when he picked up and knew how to use a rattle wrench. Little snot. He's four by the way.

is that your real plate canmore? or is alberta one of the only need a rear plate provances?

It was helping dad out with the normal maintenance on his '79 Toyota Celica when I was 4-5 years old that got me into all things automotive.

This is not it by the way, I don't have any photos of it and we took it to the scrapyard a long time ago, with the odometer showing 330,000+ miles I might add. Only difference between this one and the one my dad had is that dad's was gray and had different wheels.

CAUTION: I only tell you this from the stories my parents told of me when i found out tools are cool. first, the light-switch covers go. next are the towel racks and dismantling of bicycle parts and the like, followed by door-knobs, work-benches and anything 4 feet to the ground or lower.. just a fair warning.. cool pic..:D

Yeah it's cool except when they start taking everything apart. My oldest boy was playing in his room once very quietly. When I went in to check on him he had taken his bed almost completely apart:D Funny stuff. My boys 7 and almost 3 both are into tools. They both know lefty loosy and righty tighty which is more than I can say for many adults I work with:crazy:

My son wanted to help me work on my Duster on an engine swap. Itold him to take everything off of the front of the motor. 6 months later I told him to put it all back on........... He did it. I was surprised, to say the least. He was 10.

That is way cool, the other day my 4 year old helped me re install my front axle. He would crank on the jack handle while I matched up the spring pins in the perches:) I was so proud!
