this might be a really dumb question, but why don't people just get a 2" piece of 7/8" hex from the local steel yard, put one end on the KP and the other in a 7/8" socket? I know the KP takes like 600 ft/lbs to torque down, but we all have 3/4" drive sockets, don't we? :)

That's what I did, but used a long 9/16" lug nut (7/8" hex). Problem was, it did twist some. If it weren't for the torch, I wouldn't have gotten the pin out. I'll bet mild steel 7/8" hex bar would twist too. A 3/4" drive socket set won't help that. Goes back to having the right tool for the job.:D
