looking for the snapon part# for the allen so i can get one.

or any other tools that will hold the big tourqe load.

The industrial hardware store in Phoenix carried the 7/8" allen wrench to go in the D60 kingpins. It was just a piece of 7/8" hex stock heated and bent 90* from what it looked like. It was about $20 if I remember right. It was beefy and was about 12-18" long so you could get a wicked cheater bar on it.

$77 :eek1: Screw that unless you have an impact that is capable of spinning the Kingpins out of the axle. Kingpin torque is 600lb-ft or more. That would take a damn good 1/2 drive impact if not a 3/4" drive impact to get out. There is a thread a few down where you can get the allen wrench for $5. Put a cheater bar on it and pop that bad boy loose.

how then do you properly torque them back on?:deal:

i get to cheat as when i wanted to check the torque i borrowed the tools from work. i have no clue why we had the allen socket, as there is no use for them on the helos but we did. we have two things that go to 700 ft lbs, or so, but they use the powerdyne... so i dont know why we had that torque wrench either....

yea, price a torque wrench that will go to 600 ft lbs torque, insane. I wonder if you could rent one some where.

I ordered 2 so I can make my own socket.

Got a one in. impact from Harbor Freight(I Know) and that sucker spun the kingpin's out no problem. Installed news allso but kind of a guess as to how tight it got. The wrench max torqe is 1400 ft lbs.

Price for my Snap-on torque wrench that is a 3/4" drive and goes from 200ft. lbs-600ft. lbs from E-bay was $142.00 delivered to my door. :deal:

Yes, if you went to buy that torque wrench from Snap-on it is a $700.00 torque wrench and not worth the money for a one time use.
