One of the guys that works at our shop, his father-in-law just passed away a few weeks ago. he was a tool and die machinist. hi died at 91. anyways he has all kinds of shop equipment in his father-in-laws garage the family needs to get rid of. so he offered everything to me for 2400. there is a Logan lathe with all kinds of different chucks, attachments, collets you name it its complete. there is a rean nice press, a drill press, belt sander, cheap horizontal saw, C clamps, tons of other machinist stuff. he was a machinist for Disney Land for years too. Steve told me he did alot of the anmatronics for alot of the rides and charecters at Disney.
he said he made the one pirate in the Pirates of The Carabian that is using his finger to call the dog with the key. he also told me he machined alot of the trick little parts for Cadzilla, ZZ Tops custom car that was made a few years ago. yesterday when I went and looked at everything I was impressed at what he had. I want everything. damn I need 2400 bucks.

So I came up with the 2400 bucks I needed to purchase the previously decribed equipment. here are some pics of what I got. there are alot of stuff I did not take a pic of. this is just the equipment for the most. check it out.
the guy that passed away , his name is Jim Young, he died at age 91. he was born in 1915. he started working in a machine shop in 1926 at age 11. when he worked at Disney Land I found out his apprentise when he was very young was Boyd Coddington. I guess he lost alot of the skills Jim taught him so many years ago huh. :D anyways I know he was a great machinist from all the cool fixtures and things I found while looking through his garage with Steve. he lived in that house for over 50 years so it was really cool seeing alot of his machined parts he probably did many, many years ago. I would like to have met him, as a machinist myself Im sure I could have learned a thing or two from that old timer for sure. Im going home to have a beer in his honor.
the lathe he bought new in like 1940. it still works perfectly to this day. holds tolerence too. cant wait to start making some things on it. hope I plan to keep it for many years too. the horizontal saw cuts verticle too. I dig the 15 ton press.
