Just read the "day fire" post from ntsqd. I couldn't tell from the map where that is exactly. Hmm, I'll go check HVSVRA.
Otherwise, I'm handicapped. I'm replacing the torque converter; well I started. I doubt I can have it back together for next weekend. Even if I don't and HVSVRA might be open, I could rent something like a Tahoe to sleep in.
Last few inches, tranny/T-case rolled off the jack. Good thing my arm was underneath to break the drop.:haha: Nearly broke my arm. Lot of pain and stitches.:haha:

General trend of the fire is now away from the HV OHV area. It's headed towards Fillmore & Santa Paula.
Talked to my CORVA connection. At this point there is no change. The leadership of CORVA is at the Sand show today, so he is going to talk to them about it tonight and get back to me.

Got an email from Wayne, at this point the Jambo is still a go.
"At the end of last week , I received positive feedback from Jerry Weil & Peters Yarbourough of HVSVRA. They said the SVRA wouild be closed for the weekend and felt that we shouldn't have any problems to go forward with our event."
They will be updating things as they go along & I will pass them on.

Just been looking at ntsqd's "Day Fire" thread; I don't see how being in HV this weekend is a good idea. Maybe some place else?

???
That would be last weekend.
Last I heard the fire was headed everywhere BUT East. Which is both good and bad. Local club has an adopted trail up on Frazier Mtn. They had a work day sched'd for next weekend and as of earlier this evening that was still a go. Should know more tomorrow evening sometime.

I'm now hearing that Calif. City and Mojave are getting all of the smoke & ash. That means the wind is blowing towards the HV-OHV area. This is both good news and bad news. The good is that it's blowing into the area where most of the fuel has already been consumed. The bad is that it's in the direction of the park, and that hasn't yet been burned so there's fuel there.

I don't think I'm going anymore. I don't really have the time to get the truck back running again. Hopefully I'll just be ready to go for BigDawg Safari

Just got an email from my friend Wayne.
"Got the following from Ed Waldhiem, CORVA Jamboree is officially canceled
We were going to try to get it moved to Jawbone Canyon, but too little
time to get everyone notified and move insurance.
Please pass this on to everyone that may be affected

I guess we knew this was likely. Too bad, but there's always next year.
I'd still like to suggest that everyone consider joining CORVA (http://www.corva.org/) if they haven't already. Their main purpose is to fight land grabs, so funding is always an issue. The $30 a year didn't make much of a dent in my pocket & they're set up with PayPal as one of several options.
