Hey Ed, about where in South Texas?
If you are close to the Gulf, you can run in most of the beaches.
Also there is an area near the town of Victoria called Coleto Creek where it's supposed to have a lot of good forest trails, river crossings and mud.
There are trilas also in/near Houston, San Antonio and Austin.

If you let me know around where, I'll try and ask around a bit.

Good Luck

Sounds great. I live in Laredo,TX on the Mexican border. I'm about 1 1/2 hours from Victoria and that sounds like fun. Wheeling at the beaches is ALWAYS fun! Keep in touch!

I live close to Coleto Creek outside Victoria, if you get a chance its worth the drive.
Dont forget the Right of way under bridges at rivers and creek crossings can provide a bit of diversion for climbing and mudding as well. The Frio and Nueces Rivers at HWY 90 have access, i dont know if hwy 57 has access or not.
Devils Rriver State park north Of Del Rio has some suitable 4WD terrain. What about FM 3464 north to Eagle Pass?

I live in Houston. I'd love to find out more about local trails but I don't know where to find out.
And the beach ROCKS.
You can tell jeep trails apart fromt truck trails because the jeeps barely skim the surface while our big trucks really dig in even just driving around. Still lots o' fun!
