all you really need is crossover steering, its a live front axle correct?

the front axle has 18 inches of travel. it is a 3 link, this burb is a overbuilt the owner has a 86 cj with 4 link and loved 3 wheel turns and with this burb there is to much suspension movement for crossover if he pulls a wheel and has to hit the brakes its going to take a hard left turn and im trying to avoid that. i wish my computer didnt crash i had the pics on it from when i saw the truck in person

I'm assuming it's a triangulated three link with no track bar. If that's the case then no matter what kind of linkage you have bumpsteer will make it undrivable at any speed over 20 mph. You'll need to go full hydraulic or run a track bar the same length and angle as your drag link.

Maybe KTMOUTFRONT will chime in here, he has a lot more experience than I with this exact situation.

what you are calling canitlever might be somthing esle to others. i know a swing type system is used alot.

there is a system used on some trophy trucks that employs a saginaw box that actuates a linkage setup, kinda likea bell crank setup, but havent seen it used in a live axle setup.

was this truck you speak of in a magazine at all?

OK. I will jump in. Mine is a triangulated 3 link. Tried crossover because that is what was on it with the track bar set up that broke. Could not drive it over 15 mph. Went HOWE full hyrdo. A hand full on the street. A blast in the dirt. My other option was the cantilever steering set up. This one runs from the box in line with the spindle arm to line up with the radius arm pivot point then runs to the steering arm on the spindle. I did not have the room due to the 2.5" coilovers and the 3" triple bypass shocks. I am going to a 3 link with a track bar and crossover steering to be able to drive it on the street.

Action shot here.
