I Like Those. Espescially The Center Console/seat. Good Versatility. Nice Score

All basically the same underneath.
Watch how you monut the tracks. There is limited room do to the 6" rise between front and rear floor. I ended up trimming off part of the overhang on the upper track to let them adjust fully back. Not a big deal unless you are verry tall or have my girth.

I'm very interested in seeing pics where someone put captain's chairs from a van in a K5. Since my K5 will see 99.999% street use, I want to be comfortable. I could ride around in my van all day without getting really tired and the seats were worn out.

Plus I like the high backs and arm rests. Makes long trips much nicer.

hell ya. after looking around i think i am going to pursue some full size van seats like the one pictured, and maybe even the folding sofa bed some had in the back. that would be the ****. . . .

"Baby I wanna stop and rest for the night"
"Fold down the back seat, I'll wake you up when we get there."

It might just work. . . if not it will be great for camping

Agreed... although the rear bench may be too wide for K5. Still a very cool idea.

not k5, k10 suburban

Oh, well that would probably work really well then. If I had a Sub, I'd put a bench in back with no 3rd row. In my K5 I'm planning to run with no back seat at all.

ya i am deciding about the 3rd row as well. I have a 10 month old son and another boy about to come out of his mamma.

If think i will do the third row but facing the rear for easy entry and exit. that way if i take them for a camout we can have room for gear, or room for their friends to go to the lake (or football game, etc)

Very cool... I want a Sub one day for a camping vehicle. Camping as in, sleeping in the Sub. :D

Probably I'd do some quick-disconnect setup for the rear bench to store more gear and provide a nice sleeping area.

ya. between all my escapades when i was a younger and when i was single as well as the military. . . when it comes time to take the boys camping i think i will prefer the cushy leather goodness and dryness of the sub. . . .

sounds kind of nice actually. . .

There's just something comforting about driving something that you can sleep comfortably in. It definitely appeals to those of us with an adventurous spirit and a love for both the open road and camping.

Years ago, my Van threw the power steering belt when I was nearly an hour into a trip from TN to AL. My Dad came to the rescue. When he arrived, I was in the back of the Van in my favorite chair, which I was taking back to AL. I was using my army field jacket as a blanket.

I was dry, warm and comfortable...........and sound asleep. :haha:

nice. they still issue those field jackets in the air force. . . or they might have just stopped because of the uniform change. Those things are just so damn heavy and warm. Everyone wears the gortex parka and fleece liner now- but i keep two of those field jackets in the suburban.

anyways, i am trying to find salvage yards around here that are of the "U Pull it" variety so i can get a deal on some seats.

I would love to find say a 2000+ conversion van and pull the seats. . .

Ahh soft cushy heated leather high backed dual arm rest goodness. In a big diesel 4x4. lol

My field jackets are both pre-Vietnam. The 1st one was Dad's. It's post-space program because it has velcro on the cuffs, but still, the zipper is aluminum. It was severely damaged when the K5 had an engine fire. My girlfriend knew how distraught I was and got an even older replacement...same size (they don't use that sizing system any more) except no velcro, and of course aluminum (not brass) zipper. We're guessing Korean war vintage. Old school awesomeness!

I think you're onto something good here with the van seats. I'd thought about it in passing, but not pursued it. I really want to see how well this works out. I'd prefer vinyl seat covers for the durability, ease of cleaning and cheapness, but that's not hard to find from a newer work van. Plus it fits in well with the planned theme I have for my interior.

If I can get a powered seat, that'd be sweet. I don't care about "factory" warmers, I'd just add them if needed. Don't let this idea die. :D

im gonna try. although uncle sam pays like ****. I am about $150 a month abouve the food stamp program. . . and we use WIC. Its the only way enlisted guys really afford baby formula.

Anyways, I am looking into this LQK yard thats in raleigh and hope that they have newer vans and upfront/cheap prices.

the places i used to go to had one orice for all front seats, one for back seats, and one for benches. whether they were out of a VW or a cadillac.

hopefully this LQK place prices the same. They are way too expensive on ebay.

Tell me about it... I found some 2007 Silverado seats on eBay, and they wanted like $700 for the two fronts, and another $700 for JUST THE CENTER SEAT/CONSOLE!!!! :eek1::eek1::eek1:

I know U.S. doesn't pay you guys enough. My Mom had us on WIC too when I was younger.

I found it far more efficient to have the stock rear seat to match the front leather seats

not mine, but maybe this helps answer your question
From what I have seen you either choose 1 arm rest and a small center console or a giant center console and no arm rests- unless on the door of coarse! :eek1:

The one up top with the leather was a show truck that was for sale some time ago, I haven't seen it since, here's some more of those pictures.
I think I would definately sleep a night or two in this baby- just for laughs

You may not want the built in seat belts if you're tall. My daughter had a 2000 Yukon XL and the seat belt was always lying on my neck - very uncomfortable. I'm 6'4". The seats were comfortable except for the belt.
