Long letter here (http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/26742/), and an even more powerful presentation of it at the Glenn Beck Show on FoxNews TV today about 10 minutes after the start. No doubt it will end up as a Youtube video with zillions of hits over time. Catch it again later tonight when they repeat it."...I'm a home grown American citizen, Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me....

What kind of nut job am I?..Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:
(and then she lists the 12 biggest political problems - what follows is a shortened version of what she said after the list): "I am not an activist, community organizer, terrorist, militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I'm busy, busy, busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills..."

"...Stop treating us like we're morons. We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done...."

"...Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don't care. Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back....You have awakened us, the patriotic spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long....Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming."
Gents, it was undoubtedly the best "I'm mad as heck and I'm not taking it anymore speech" I've ever heard.

And following that segment, Beck had on the Inspector General that Obama wrongfully fired.... for daring to question Obama shenanigans. Powerful stuff!

Nice reading but one person isn't gonna change our government. Reading that lady's letter is a real motivator but for what means? Anyone can get fired up and write something like that but all any politician is gonna do is brush it off and laugh at "We The People" because whether or not they lose re-election won't matter.........the next person may be just like the previous one.

There's one difference, though: her letter was read on a radio show with multiple hundreds of thousands of viewers, and re-read on a TV show with millions of viewers. Her point was not about "I, the person", but about increasing numbers of people in her same position who wouldn't ordinarily write such letters. It's about more and more voters who are discovering that when they voted for a change away from George Bush, they ended up with a kind of "change" they never expected to happen.

If enough of this kind of outrage is channeled into a referendum on politicians who ignore parts of the Constitution and their own campaign promises, we will achieve the idea that "a Government afraid of its people represents freedom, while a people afraid of its Government represents tyranny". It may turn out otherwise, yes, but maybe the upcoming Pennsylvania Senatorial election might prove that whoever (Dem or GOP) takes over for Arlen Specter will not be just like Arlen Specter. Such a thing could happen to John McCain here in Arizona if he doesn't get his act together, and if his future opponent demonstrates a real ability to listen to the voters.

Hard to beat the opposition if you throw in the towel before the fight starts.

Noone said you had to go toe to toe with the world. Start locally (if it needs it) and spread out to state, then regional, and finally good o;e Capital Hill. You want to make a difference? Find out where the decisions are made for whatever agenda you want addressed and become part of that commitee/office. Start a petition. Start a community rally.

The problem with this country isnt the politicians, its the people who dont want to fight for whats right. So many people have the attitude that their voice or opinion doesnt matter. And complaining with no solution is a waste of breath. Hell, theres enough good folk right here on CK5 that have excellent ideas and some with the expertise and experience to help get things going. A petition would spread like wildfire on here.

I'm not trying to be degrading or bust anyone's balls, I just think that giving up without trying is like running a marathon and stop after 500 feet.

Start this now! I want my country back, the one I was taught about in school. By the time I got into the real world I had realized that my country was given away by apathetic (and might I add, pathetic) people. I'm only 28 but can see that things have drastically changed since I was young.

For my part I tried very hard to be the voice of reason during the last election cycle. I convinced at least one, if not two people, to revisit their thinking and they woke up. I keep hoping that I can find more. I do not really care who I piss off with my opinions and views.

there are people that have gone 'toe to toe with the world', and won...or became martyrs. Reagan, the Tianamen Square tank guy, Mel Gib...I mean, William Wallace...

It says "1,272 Responses to 'An Open Letter to Our Nation’s Leadership' " at his FoxNews TV site (http://glennbeck.blogs.foxnews.com/2009/06/17/an-open-letter-to-our-nations-leadership/#more-503). At the link in my first post for his radio show web site, the petition to sign in support of the letter now says "This petition, An Open Letter to our Nation's Leadership, is so popular that it is overwhelming our servers, and we have had to temporarily close it. We hope to re-open it soon. Please check back."

Glenn's video reading of the letter here (http://www.foxnews.com/video/index.html?playerId=011008&streamingFormat=FLASH&referralObject=6075725&referralPlaylistId=playlist), worth saving (ignore the obligatory commercial, of course). The one single Youtube video wasn't behaving right for me, there will probably be other versions tomorrow.

If no one says anything how will people know we are upset? That's how we got in this mess to begin with. If good level headed people would have stood up and said, NO WAY!, in the first place our country would not be on it's way to the waste tank. One person speaking up can get others attention and get them excited enough to do something. Some people just need a small push to get started. Just my opinion though.
