Some of the camp grounds I have looked at have pretty nice little cabins if that would work for you. Hell some even have swimming pools and cable TV!

Just so you don't expect something luxurious, those "cabins" are typically a one-room shack with a couple of beds and an air conditioner. No bathroom, no TV, etc. Think of it as a wooden tent. http://coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/wink.gif

"NOT CAMPING!???" That's un-American! http://coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif I think that staying in a hotel would take away from the experience for me... that and I wouldn't be able to afford the gas bill on the way home!!! http://coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/smile.gifhttp://coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/cool.gif

well I got 5 hurniated disks, and I have to make sure that I have a decent bed. I haven't got brave enough to try an air matress cuz I have some pretty serious problems. if they have cabins I might go for that though. I'm not that concerned about the showers etc.

Everyone can give me a hard time now.......http://coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/smile.gif
Jeff, I'm staying at the Ramada on main street near Center St.
They aren't cheap but the Bar's and resturants are right next doorhttp://coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/crazy.gif.
After eating dust all day a shower always sounds good to me.
I'll still be going out to the camp site after wheeling for some BS but when evryone burns out, I know the bars are open late and I can walk there.
I also have a friend that lives a block away so it will be easy to stumble back and not get lost.....er.....well maybe.
Let me know if you need a phone number.
By the way, Moab is already almost booked up for that weekend so don't wait.
Just remember guys, I'll be the one with all the spare parts and not much room left in the truck for sleeping.http://coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/wink.gif
By the way, if I can get a trailer this summer and can pull the truck out with my 4wd 460 conversion van, maybe I will camp out (if you can call it that) color tv,vcr,cd and two stereo's.

I keep thinking it maybe a blast at the camp grounds if everyone doesn't burn out at 10. Maybe I'll check into one of the cabins so I have somewhere to throw my stuff.
So what time does everyone call it a night?
If it is 10, The bar and Ramada might be a safer call (no driving). So what do you think Jeff?

For anyone that does want a motel room, I just called Motel 6 and the rates are $70.99 on Fri. & Sat. - $54.99 on Sun. & Mon. and if we can get 5 or 6 rooms rented he will give us a group discount of 10% or maybe more. (Kids are free)
The motel is a 1/4 mile south from the Slickrock camp ground and a half a block north from Denny's resturant for whatever that is worth. Let me know if this is something you are up for.

Oh, the link http://www.moab-utah.com/motel6/
It's a nice place with plenty of room for trailers.

Anyone else looking at the motel idea?
1/4 mile from the campground.
More people, better deal.....just checking.
Seriously considering it. It would be better for my kids, I think, with a pool and all, considering how freaking hot it will be/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif.

The place is pretty new and nice. I'm sure you and the kids would enjoy it. Keep in mind, no coffee makers in room, just lobby. Denny's is in walking distance and so is the camp ground. Oh, and the pool is nice also although I have never tryed it.

I want in on the group hotel thing. That would be great. Me and a buddy are coming up from Prescott Valley to Flagstaff and hopefully caravaning with others. I want to stay in a hotel because I stayed in a campground last EJS and it was cold, rainy, and you have to worry about packing up all your tools etc. I prefer to keep my stuff in a hotel room and have ac, pool, and a soft bed that's made every day. Oh, and having the bars close by is great too.

hmmmm... might not be a bad deal... I'm more of a camping guy myself, but I don't know if I can turn down cable, maids, hot shower, and jacuzzi /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif.... Is there a cutoff date for reservations, or can I make them like a week before?
solowookie

I'd assume as long as they have room - if it were me I'd make a reservation & cancel if you decide not to stay at the hotel.

03-27-2002, 02:05 AM
I agree with Solo also. Make them now and change later if you want. I just don't want to pack all the gear on top of the tools, spare parts, parts for sale etc.
Won't leave enough room for the keg I'm bringing./forums/images/icons/smile.gif
i just made mine and they didn't give me any discount. $70 for the weekend and 50-sumthing on weekdays./forums/images/icons/frown.gif
no discounts for phat kids...

Anyone still thinking of doing the hotel thing, check the link MOTEL 6. We need more people so I can work on a better deal. Camping is cool but if you want to join us, we will still be going to the camp ground at night to hang with everyone there. I will fight to get us the best deal I can if we have enough people to bargin with them.

Billy, Just tell them you are with the Colorado K5 group. Tell them Mike the manager said he would do us a deal.
No matter if they tell you it is $70 a night, I will talk to them about it before we actually go to work out the deal. We can always cancel.
If they don't want to work with us like they said they will (which would be dumb on there part), I will find use another deal somewhere close. I will talk to them next month and if they can't do us right, I will talk to the other motels at that time.
I'm sure they will work with us though.

Just made my reservation tonight for Aug. 22nd--26th. at the Motel 6. I went ahead and booked a room with two beds so if no one from Texas goes some could shack up and split the expense. The lady told me the rooms are starting to go fast. By the way let me know if you get a price on the group deal.
We should also plain dinner on the 22nd that way everyone can visit and plain who will go on what trails.
Storm Trooper
06-06-2002, 11:57 PM
How much did they charge you? I hope they gave you a deal!
I will talk to them at the end of the month to see what I can work out for all of us. Dinner works or BBQ. See ya there.
