kool, I did the scoutcamp staff thing when I was younger... worked at Camp Geronimo, up in Payson AZ... after my stint as staff, I came back as a scout 4 weeks later, and found myself involved in a rather sizable forest fire... man, that was a crazy summer.

hope you have fun with the climbing, and rapelling.

Good luck on the road. I get paid to go on the rocks every once in a while too. Just take it easy on the road, no racing. Just let the cars pass you by you watch the girlies go by.

Ddraggon. Scott and I have been to Geronimo. We went there in the summer of 2000. Fun Place!!!

I went to geronimo 8 years... long enough to become an `old one' and get my `lifetime' awards in Polarbear, and tenderfoot run, as well as enough trail segment patches to nearly cover the entire back of my jacket. I've also been involved in a forest fire, a flood, scaled Roosevelts peak 6 times, and as I said earlier, been on staff one year. these last 2 years, our troop decided to do the wilderness camping, instead of geronimo... Geronimo is a great place, and great fun, but there are several advantages to doing a wildrness camping trip every once in a while. I hope we go back to geronimo next year, because its always good to have some variety in our summer camping trips.

anyone who hasn't been, its one of the scouts crown jewel camps... in someways, its kinda `wimpish' with its million dollar catered messhall, but its got everything needed to earn about 30 meritbadges there. the pool facilities were recently renovated, replacing the ancient filtration systems with more modern ones, and putting in a new locker room area... the one part I truly miss tho is the highdive... insurance companies forced them to cut it down to a low dive, which isn't as fun... the climbing tower is only about 6 or 7 years old, and about 140 feet tall, there's 30 sites, and 8 sessions, and generaly at least 4 out of state troops at any given time, and as often as not, troops from europe...

pretty cool place, a whole lot of fun, and a great place for getting merit badges... unfortunately, from a scoutmasters standpoint, there's not much for us to do, but sleep for 1/2 the morning, check on the scouts in thier classes, and file permits to go on hikes, ( if thats our thing).
