I have been jonesin' to go back to Disney since this Spring, too. Especially now that I have lifted the truck, but I still have some other things to get done before the truck is ready for Disney. I'd be up for a run later in the month or the first part of September.

did you get some tires?

DPI
07-24-2002, 10:21 AM
I wanted this to be an informal run, so I am open for suggestions on the date. Early September may be better anyway, especially if it is a little cooler. Let's decide on a date...

WakeBoard&4X4er
07-24-2002, 10:30 AM
not to push you all back, but i will be there on the 19th of oct. for a Club run. I do not know the rules, but i bet you both could meet us there then. I would think that Ken, Scot, Layne, CHRIS and my self will be there. just a FYI

SkulzNBonz
07-24-2002, 10:30 AM
As for tires, yes I got some 33's in my garage.

On the date, I was thinking early September myself. First week of August is probably going to be a hot mother. What about the weekend after Labor day (Sept. 7-8)?

John

DPI
07-24-2002, 10:54 AM
That would probably work for me...I am just itching to go back...Kyle, you up for Labor Day weekend? Anyone else?

SkulzNBonz
07-24-2002, 11:50 AM
Yeah, come on Kyle, I might need someone to spot me /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif /forums/images/icons/wink.gif! Just kiddin'

John

WakeBoard&4X4er
07-24-2002, 12:13 PM
we all know you have to have a spotter!!! or you can make both side of you K5 the same!!

HAHA

SkulzNBonz
07-24-2002, 12:28 PM
Instead of trying to straighten the sheetmetal, I'm just gonna chop it off! Hold on, was that a dig? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif I think it was! You gonna make it out there to play on the rocks?

John

Kyle89K5
07-24-2002, 12:33 PM
That would prb. work a LOT better for me. Give me some time to work the bugs out of the new motor.Do you wanna try labor day or how about the week after.

(Ya know Daniel, if you ain't careful, you'll have to get sponsors cause there will be 10 of us there /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif )

Kyle89K5
07-24-2002, 12:35 PM
/forums/images/icons/crazy.gif /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

Trust me, I can even the rest of your truck out to look EVEN better. On second though, just swing by the house on the way down and I'll take Jones the sledgehammer to it to speed things up. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

I will NEVER forget the look I got when I told just to stay in the truck for a minute till I get things straightened out.

I will NOT be following Daniel out this time either. I got a softball sized dent in the gas tank from that one.

Kyle89K5
07-24-2002, 12:39 PM
I just want to know how you made it through the rockgarden unscathed? I want YOUR spotter for that one /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

DPI
07-24-2002, 12:44 PM
OK, I mis-read John's (Skulznbonz) post. 9/7 would work better for me, probably less runs scheduled for that weekend than Labor Day weekend anyway.

DPI
07-24-2002, 12:46 PM
No sponsors... However, I may try to get some awards together. IE: farthest distance, most carnage, stuff like that...

Kyle89K5
07-24-2002, 12:53 PM
Save the carnage one for John, if he'll let me spot again, I'll guarantee that I can see that that he gets a TWOFER this year.

As far as I can tell, everything loks good for me the weekend after labor day. Should be a LOT cooler than an augest run I would think.

SkulzNBonz
07-24-2002, 01:14 PM
Thanks alot! What is this, the POR board!! /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif I will try my best not to get THAT award a second time (unless of course I can get some more free ORD swag!). September 7-8 works for me. Shall we set it in stone?

What can I say... I'm a heckuva guy /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

I was suprised my truck came out as unscathed as it did. Then again, I had my wife at home ready to KILL me if I didn't bring it home in *close* to one peice.

You and your wife were real cool about the *slight* dent that you got. I'm thankful for that.

How about I get to run one of the RC buggy's this time though.

SkulzNBonz
07-24-2002, 02:11 PM
Those dents really weren't too bad. Especially now that they have been spray painted with flat black paint. I'll charge up the RC trucks (my son won't let us leave without them!). Is the 7-8 of September official?

well i did not take the hardest line, but i was with NO sliders, NO beefy bumpers, and Block lift. The Spoter was NO ONE, LOL, just joking. BIGRIG , Chris Clay was spoting for me. He has spoted for me 4 times now and I trust him TOTALY! GREAT SPOTTER!!!!

WakeBoard&4X4er

I will try, but i might have to hit the lake part of the after noon!!

DPI
07-25-2002, 09:48 AM
I am definately up for 9/7 and possibly 9/8 if I can talk the wife into staying the night. I will be coming from Tulsa, so if anyone is going thru, we can meet and drive together as long as Kyle isn't leading the pack /forums/images/icons/wink.gif Last time down I was tachn' 3000+ RPM trying to keep up with him /forums/images/icons/grin.gif . I can see why his motor blew up.

Kyle89K5
07-25-2002, 10:41 AM
The good news is that I got us there before they left /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
The bad news is that I took prb. 20k miles off my motor with that run. I slowed down ALOT after I met up with you, I made the run from my house in about 15 minutes, used half a tank of gas, but I made it. Scared Mark half to death /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
I honestly forgot you weren't running 4.10's /forums/images/icons/blush.gif

I've slowed down alot in my old age., you prb won't be seeing me break 80 like that again for a while.

I've loosened the suspension up on my truck quite a bit so I won't being doing any 45 mph high speed turns either /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Sweet!!! I have it marked on the calender. I will be going through Tulsa probably early morning of the 7th. I will definately stay overnight, cuz I ain't driving back to OKC after a full day on the rocks! We have anyone else who want's to go play?

TULSAK5
07-26-2002, 01:28 PM
I will do my best to make it on the 7th. Also coming from Tulsa, we can work out the convoy procedures later. I will have my rock sliders installed. They will be FOR SALE "cheap" right after I do the waterfall. If your interested bring a drill or welder (however you prefer) and I'll even help ya put them on.

SkulzNBonz
07-27-2002, 07:07 PM
Hey y'all!! I have talked to a couple of my friends here in OKC about this trip, and they are real interested in going. Are we for sure going the 7th? I need to set up my vacation time for then, and there are others that need to make plans. I am pretty much going, but I know there are others that may need something solid. Looking forward to it. I spent all day Today on the South Canadian River just south of Oklahoma City, and have pretty much sworn off of mud or sand ever again!!! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif That leaves only rock, so Disney is a must. See ya soon!

SkulzNBonz

I will check to see if anyone will be at my house, if not i might have some room for people to crash. about 20-30 from the dam.

88K5Jimmy
07-29-2002, 07:47 PM
Ohh man having it stock and seeing what it will do is part of the fun!!! I have atteneded two runs with mine stock and you take it where you want to go, if its too hairy ya park it and ride. Plus having a good spotter is beneficial (thanks Steve Sharpe) Not sure if I will be able to make it or not, gonna have to see what school is doing to me by then.

well geeze, i saw that video shot at disney and aint no way that the ol stocker could make that, im not all into rocks and body damage (since im poor and will seriously be driving this prolly well out of college, and im a sophmore in HS now), but are there any rookie courses, paths, tracks, or anything people know about out there? i like mud more anyway. thanks, so ill tell ya what ill do, ill drive the stocker up, if i dun like the looks of it, ill bum a ride, if it don't look bad, i take 'er. so is there a final date/list/meeting point/time of people goin yet?

SkulzNBonz

I ran my truck stock there last year. I got a little sheetmetal damage, but nothing more than cosmetic (Don't pay any attention to my sig./forums/images/icons/shocked.gif). I would say 75% of the stuff out there is accessible to a stock K5. The other 25% is NASTY!!! Take your truck out there to see what it can do, you'll be surprised. Oh yeah, we are going the 7th-8th of September.

My father-in-law went last spring in his new 2001 Z71. He didn't get a scratch on it. There are lots of room just to play around for a stock vehicle. If you do not want damage, just stay away from the 25% mentioned above. One thing you can do is stay back in the pack and watch other drivers to see how they do things. It's all fun, if you don't want to try something, nobody there is going to say you have to.

OK, I saw your K5 in BA last weekend. Had to check the Four Wheeler mag to make sure it was you. The "Marines" front tag makes your K5 stick out! Along with it being bright yellow! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
