Sounds good to me I would be interested in getting one of the cabins since I will be towing the K5 I won't be able to bring the travel trailer. My wife would refuse to come if she had to sleep in a tent(she is a little spoiled)! Where can I get information on making reservations?

At the moment, it looks like I will be able to go.
I'm not running 9, but it would be great to meet everybody and do some medium trails.
The wife would need running water too!

Dep/Grim - How long/far is Tellico from Atlanta?
Its probably 6 hours to Atlanta in the truck.

beater74
10-08-2002, 08:35 AM
it's something like 2 hours or so from Atlanta

Depdog
10-08-2002, 10:02 AM
What he said, its about 2 hours above Atlanta depending on the speed you can drive, I can go there from my house doing 60 to 64 (depending on tire vibration /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) and be there in 2.5 hours, I live 20 min below Atlanta.

Would love to see magazine coverage. I asked them all one year and got a thanks but were busy, or cant come that far or your rigs are too big for our magazine (4Wheel and Sport Utility). I will check with Mudzer and see if he will pass it on to his magazine bud.

Its gonna be fun, rain or shine.

Darn you Chris! I called as soon as I got the PM from Glenn and had to leave a message. When the lady returned my call you had already taken the "Lock-em Inn" and I had to settle for the "The Grandview" which is 1.5 miles away from you and Glenn. You must have called the instant you got the PM because I did and she said your message was first on her machine. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

Oh well, I guess 1.5 miles isn't too far. The only thing I am worried about is that she said the road going back to our cabin is "pretty tight"! Hope I can get the goose neck through there! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looks like we have a plan!

Is there anything else major schedualed to be there that weekend? I'll look later if need be.
I was thinking, stand back /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.......
if we can get some good confirmation of at least 10 rigs or more we could call ahead and see if they can reserve something off to the side somewhere. More so speaking in terms of the stateline campgrounds somewhere close to that little store. That way I can get a beer soon as we come off the trail. /forums/images/graemlins/pimp.gif and at least have a brick walled outhouse in case a tornado comes over while I'm doing a download. /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif The #1 alllllllll the way almost out of the park is only 6 bones a night. I'm not sure about all the others. For all you guys bringing the wives, they do have those little cottage studio like things there close to the store area. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
But I'm just throwing out ideas. Glenn, I'll be glad to help you do any leg work required. I can get the wife to make up any fliers, invitations or what ever. Thats all she likes to do is play with picture editors on the computer. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif One thing she just brought up is that if we could get some decent pictures of everyone's jug and there "slug" then she would mend them all into one collage type print. You know all that silly memorabilia crap. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Anyone know where I can pick a 205 8bolt/32 spline type? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

ftn96
10-10-2002, 11:50 PM
I just counted 15 just in replies alone. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Not to mention the extras they bring along. Could you image being in a little stock jeep or truck coming down some trail as you glance up and see 45 tons work of heavy chevy punding down on you? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif...

Hell, I've about got myself ready to at least go up school bus. I'll just have to make sure I have the BRAND NEW battery or 2 on hand to winch my ass all the way up.

Im printing out severl maps to take this time.

I'm all /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif

Shoolbus.....Hmmmmmm getting brave huh> you did see the pictures of my truck with the rear 1/4 getting ripped off didn't you? That's the way out. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif
last year a guy in a full size chvy SHREADED his truck on schoolbus. Blew 2 tires out (38-40 inchers) busted his steering all up. They rigged the steering up with chains to get it out to a trailer. MtPockets ran it and took a few hits and I think broke an axle shaft. His Jeep budies tore their trucks up on it. My Jeep buddies ran it with some pretty decent trucks and one ripped a track bar loose, one blew a warn hub and they had a few other problems. The Scout that was with them took a hit in the body. I'm not sure I want to take a full size up that trail.

ftn96
10-11-2002, 11:18 PM
Yeah! Maybe! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

But if you don't do the ride you got no pride. It's a vehicle, a tool. Sometimes tools get torn up. If I have to tear mine up to get to the top of that bastard a$$ mountain.... My wifes gonna be pissed. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

On the other hand... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif You only live once and whats wrong with leaving a 1/4 panel behind as a souviner? /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif The way I see it...Is if you drive the rig all the way there, wheel the piss snoting hell outta of it and still make it all the way back without a flatbed rollback..... You win!!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Hopefully, I'll be /forums/images/graemlins/pimp.gifin' it this time.

I'm ready to rock, but the trucks not. Hopefully all will go close to as planned and if anything I should be 100% better off than I was there at the Dixie Run. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

By this time next week I will have added a post that gives local campground and motel info in Tellico.

Cool, good to hear from yall. Mudzer has his ride going the weekend before so that will probably cut down on some attendees. I dont have the time to start calling all the venders to ask for stuff for a raffle or give away. Would be nice to have though.

If it happens this year the Smokey Mtn Venture is the same time{last thur in apr to first sat in may}.There's lots of camping on Tenn side of trails.S M V bunch has been camping at Hanging Dog state park just outside ov Murphy NC.Several good hotels and motels over there too. It's farther to trails but there's wallmart and several parts houses there. They have learned to stock up on common parts by now.A small town ,Green cove is about 6 miles from trails on Tenn side.Small motel there and couple of small stores.Gas is higher there than in Tellico or Murphy, but,if you don't need too much it beats the drive to either town,Also pretty good machine shops in both towns.Look forward to seeing Y'all there.Gold 88 GMC,Just can't get rid of me.C B handle{ZONKER}.Get over there a lot and know area prety well.Know some easier trails with beautiful views too.Fire tower lookout at nearly 6000 ft and more. One of the oldest trading posts east of Miss river not far. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gifer on 38s D60 front.Like to wheel it hard and often. Also now a offroad camp on NC side of trails.Has fair shop on site and do different things evenings around camp.

If anyone is is of the hotel camping type, the new Holliday Inn Express in Murphy is very nice! Stayed there for our clubs Winter Maddness ride last weekend. They even let a few folks park their RV in the lot! Lots of room for trailers and they don't bitch about trail rigs in the lot. They also lack the giant roaches that the Ecno Lodge has. You're inTN so you might be more up to speed on this than me, but here is what I know. SFWDA is working w/ the TN state gov trying to reopen the Tellico Plains (TN side, Upper Tellico in the NC side) to ORV traffic. In doing so they want to develop a plan for other ORV areas in TN. Like all politicans (sp) they never let a chance to make money slip by. They see the tax revenu that NC gets and want a piece as well.

Thats Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There are several camp grounds available for primitive up to full campers and giant R/V's. They can accomidate tow vehicles and trailers you name it. We could meet at the main pay station on trail 1 (Davis Creek Road) or at one of the campgrounds. Crawford has a very nice setup and some great on site rock gardens as well as repair shop available for rent with tools for $20.00 an hour.
