I heard somewhere that those wont work with a normal CB.. Does anyone know for sure??
I have been wanting one of those for years now, but have been told they wont work....

What's you definition of work ?
The one for CB is about 102" long, and you can add a spring if you want(4-6")
The Military one is longer than 102", and the spring may be longer too...........
You need to use the correct wavelenght antenna, 1/4, 1/2, 1/8, 3/8 to give good perfomance.

I am just relaying what I was told by the Army Corps. here and A guy that deals with Army Surplus out west..
Those large antennas actually tune themselves to the specific frequency that the radio is turned to.. For some reason they said it wouldn't do that with a CB..
I dont think it is set to an actual wavelength since it tunes itself.

He said that he was restoring it, so he probably wont use a CB. The radios that came with M1009's look like this:
