I was just looking at Wilson fiberglass antennas. What do you guys know about these and are they worth a pooo? I will be just trail yappin' more than anything. It will be mounted on my tire rack if this makes a differance.

wilson makes top-o-the-line antennas and they are not cheap! if all you're gonna' be doing is trail chatting and you're not going to be putting a lot of power thru it i would just get a plain old steel whip, 102" is the best, but shorter will work just fine too for the trail....
peace.

If a fiberglass unit is what you are after go WILSON!!! I have had two of them and have never broke them! A few of my buddies bought the cheaper Valor ones and they break all the time!!!

Cool! Thanks for the replys. However, today on the way home, before reading your answers, I bought a 48" FireStik II. It is going to be mounted on the tire carrier like Steve's, is why it is only 48". I haven't opened it yet, so should I take it back and exchange it for a Wilson, or is the FireStik just as good? Also, the shop had Cobra 25 something or other, for $100. Good or bad??

take that $100 and buy an older model cobra 148-GTL or a Uniden Grant. both are fully loaded radios and if you search e-bay for them you can usually find them selling for under $100 sometimes, more if they're tweeked with goodies....
peace.
