tied it directly to the cage but the whole "engine cage" comes off or tilts (depending on howm many bolts i take off.)

Looks good but seems like the radiator is left out in the middle of no where waiting to be smashed up by a log or somethin

No problem, mine was pieced together from othes I've seen too. And since you borrowed ideas from me, maybe you won't mind if I borrow your hinge idea. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif Though I'll probbably never get motivated enough to actually make the change...

Here (http://www.members.cox.net/russhuffman/frontcap/frontcap.html) are some more pics of mine in progress

BTW, hard to see, but are those spring bushing mounts front and rear? Are you adding a hood?

SCOOBYDANNN
07-23-2003, 02:18 PM
just regular bushings. I want to chop up my hood and fenders and "try" to put them back on, bt we'll see.

BadDog
07-23-2003, 03:09 PM
The hood is not *too* hard, but good luck on the fenders...

Weld some jagged teeth on the front of that.. just under the headlights.. that would be freakin awesome..
Hell.. the truck is awesome already.

I like the mattress on the top, you and Maranda can lay up there and gaze upon the stars on a brisk summer night, what a romantic Jimmy. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Strange looking lights there Stephen. What did they come off of? Looks kinda familiar, but can't place it. I've got round 6" lights, some big square ones (5x6 or so?), and some small square ones (maybe 3x5, typical fogs with clear lense) and I can't decide what to use. None of them really stoke my fire... so it still sets there with no eyes... not that it needs them since it just sets there. <sigh> /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Well, I got 3 pairs of little small (2" dia.) 55W lights for rock lights. The other 3 pairs are all 55W but various sizes/shapes. The 6" rounds are really too big for rock lights (IMO) as are the large squares I got from Juan. You can see what they (the big squares) look like in his recently posted front links and coil-overs post.

Sorry for the OT...

Yup, snowplow lights, $100 or a little less from Northern Hydraulics. Came with a bunch of wiring harness that I really didn't need but they worked out really well. DOT headlights and signals all in one kind of goofy looking package. It looked really bad without the tube guards around them, not so bad now.
The half windshield came about from a trip I was supposed to go on in the snow and I had that size piece of plex that I scrounged from the neighbors dumpster to I cut it to fit hoping it would keep some of the cold breeze off of my son. It takes the wind almost over my head but not quite. I might spring for speedglass this winter but there are other more pressing projects.
I highly recommend the severe taper, visability is great. The tubing structure is just larger than the radiater (a 19x34") and the sheet is right over the tube. With the steering box in a more conventional location, I would have dropped the rad. some more but as it is, the box is under the radiator so I couldn't do much with it.

Wheeling my K5 with narrowed front end made a difference as big as going from 3.08's to 4.88's with lockers! I kept the stock core support for ease of of everything and supported it struts coming from the cab. Very easy to see and wheel, not to mention less weight. -Mark
