i was wondering if anyone had an external speaker they wanted to sell me. the speaker blew on me and it would be way to expensive to fix when i could get an external speaker. thanks

Is it possible to use the little dash speakers for an external speaker? My CB is in the dash and I could use a little more volume. I don't use those speakers for my stereo anyways.
Sorry if this question seems dumb, I'm don't know much about CB's and stereos.

tRustyK5, I use the old in-dash AM radio speaker in my 75 for my CB. It wasn't being used for anything else so I just put a plug on the old wiring so it would fit into the external speaker jack on my radio. Works pretty good since all the sound is bouncing off the windshield and right into your face. http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I got one form raido shack and it works great I have mine mounted to the floor and it point right at me

Man go down to the local truck stop and pick one up for a little of nothing. I will give you one but the shipping is more than what it is worth. As for the speaker in the dash, I am just as the previous person that is what that AM speaker in the middle of early model vehicles is for. At least that is the only thing that I have been able to do with it, it always seem to just set there if I don't connect a CB to it. *LOL* By the way when you attempt to connect it to your CB, go and get an 1/8 inch speaker jack, male plug, at Radio shack or a little supply store like that and your in buisness. Don't worry about the polarity on a speaker that small and no more power than what your going to send to it you won't damage the voice coil.

Ok the poet office will be open tomorrow morning and I will see what it cost.

Make sure you mount the external one somewhere under the hood. I had mine on the core support, and water got in it and messed it up. The speaker is only made out of some cheap cotton looking stuff.

90k5, i think you are thinking of a PA speaker. external speakers are in the cab, that makes the sound louder for the cb, and a pa is under the hood that is a megaphone.
i got a pa.
actuall i got to under my hood, 1 pa for my cb and 1 for my song horn.
2 cbs 2 pa's hehe

Oh man, dont get me started on PAs http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/smile.gif. I've got one in my '82 and 4 KC lights, the first week I got I hit every one of my friends house, they laughed there butts off. I try not to use it too much because we dont want a bad image for us K5ers.

but i took a pa that is used to comunicate w/ truckers at a truck stop, and put it in my blazer, its the loudest of anyones!!!
