I am up for the first weekend in may. I will check around. It looks like right now we will be bringing down 3 trucks. Grim's ole truck is on the list, Mine with the new rear 14ff(hopefully) and the blue truck. We have all made some mods over the year and we shall see what this one brings. Mine is a shady maybe of the trip. Depends on what I can get done between now and then. I ask for may cause I transfer to new command in beginning of April. Gives me alittle more time to get things done. Wife won't be coming due to expecting Baby in July. I was thinking of posting this myself today /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

The 3rd of 4th week in May is looking the best for me, I will be out of school then, but I might be able to make another time.

I've been wanting to make this trip for a couple of years and might actually get to next spring since I have a trailer now.

The date doesn't matter to me at this time, but the sooner I can get it on the calendar the less chance of something else coming up.

If all goes well I should have the truck done and be ready to go down there. But if I can't get the new axles in by then. I'll come down there for a ride-a-long with someone.

Later,

/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gifHey motor will be re-built and 14 bolt in the rear by then hopefully. Hopefully front axle swap too. Last trip was a learning experiance for all of us up here. We'll have the necassary partas plus some this time. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif And your 20 bucks for that axle last year since you never sent me an addy /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

bigjbear
11-21-2003, 09:05 AM
Don't worry about that. I got another one for free so I couldn't feel right about taking the cash. That's why I never sent you an add. A beer at the campground will make it all even. Besides, its more fun to bust your chops. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif See you there.

I can shoot for the 3rd weekend in May as well. Keith and Jim can figure out when is the best time. The latest I can I figure we can come down is the 3rd weekend in May and the earlist is the last weekend in April. That may put some pressure on me with the transferring to a new command and all. But I can see what I can do. But all of us are military so planning early is the best. Can we try toi nail down a weekend so we can start planning our leave. It takes us a full day of driving each way so planning ahead helps us from up here. How about Keith and Jim and all yall from there make the command decision on the dates and we'll plan from there.

I should be picking up a 93 F-250 7.3L before the end of the weekend and a trailer within the next month or so. You guy's just might see my piece of chit down there. Ed, do you keep in touch with Chuong? Maybe we can talk him into going and adding some more dent's to his truck?! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I think Chris ( Biggray71) might even be into going down too?!

Rebel88
12-28-2003, 03:17 PM
yeah Pete I can def. get in touch with him and see if he is interested...anybody heard from Drew(Fr8train)...if his buggy ever got done he might be up for it as well...we could have a nice little reunion down there.

Chris better bring his tail, Ryan and Shaggy need to come down from PA too.

I think if we get a good group together for the ride, Ryan and gang will come down, since pop has the ultimate tow rig now. Also, Chris should be done with his YJ by then too. I will be picking up my truck tomorrow morning, now all I need is a trailer. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I can't make it this time but will do my best for next time (next year?). I've never been to Tellico, what's it like for a K5? I know it's all about how hard you want to make it but can you ride some decent stuff without mandatory body damage? I'd love to make this ride at some point but I don't want to bend my junk up. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I was up there in Nov. and got body damage on Upper2 and Lower 2.
We ended up doing those trails on Friday and then did trail 4, Guardrail, Helicopter pad, and School Bus.
Best trail ride yet! Can't wait to go again.

nvrenuf
02-10-2004, 02:19 PM
Would you think it would be worth an 8 hour trip if you didn't want body damage? I know I'd have to stay off the really hard trails but I wouldn't want to go that far just to ride trails that could be considered dirt roads.

Thanks for the info!!

Stay on 4,5,& 6 if its dry and most likely you won't get any body damage. If it rains, all bets are off.

Hey Keith, I'd like to go. Had a blast last year. Last weekend in April sounds good. Just got back from Summertown, TN (called Wheelin' in the Country) with some good body damage and broken hub and stub shaft. Thinking about makin the THING into a cab truck now. Hopefully I'll go if I come up with a tow rig.

The weekend of the 23rd, 24th, and 25th looks good to me. I can take a personal day at work that Friday the 23rd. I just ordered 35 spline shafts, hubs, and new cold forged u-joints, so hopefully i'll get it put back together. Like I said, if I can get something to tow with, then its awwwwwwwnnnnnn!!

Keith-

Man I'd love to make Tellico this year... but its not going to happen in May. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Seems that I took the rig out last weekend, and had a few small problems:

http://64.53.225.17/gif/truck/1410broken.jpg

http://64.53.225.17/gif/truck/400broken4.jpg

Finally...

http://64.53.225.17/gif/truck/57bent2.jpg

Once I get it all put back together and have a trial run on the new hardware, Tellico is priority #1. I hope to be at that point in early July. I'm sure it will just be plain and simple too hot out there then, but I'm up for suggestions.

Sure wish I could make the May run though! /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

As far as temps go, its nice there in the summer. Well, it beats sitting around Atlanta anyway.
