Alright now that I have the core support and fenders off I don't forsee any of it going back on ever. Now that I've got ti all stripped down all I can envision is running a tube front end with factory hood on top and have it all tilt forward for easy work. So basically I'm giving up on the factory fenders, won't look as good but oh well. Anyone done this on a K5 or have pics of one?

i did it on mine (dont have a hood on it yet, but i will graft it on.)---i have pictures of it on the post below. I just mounted bushings at the front window and on top of the spring mount by the radiator. right now it has bolt going through, but i will replace the ones by the window w/ pins

why not make the front fenders removable? Thats what we did to my friends truck. bent some tube up for the core support and 4 bolts per fender and his front clip is off. HE also has no hood so he can see when his truck catches on fire. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

I want to lower the hoodline as well so I have better vision. I can't envision how to tie the fenders in with the lowered hoodline.

Now that the front and back ends are gone i seriouslly look at whats left and think about just unbolting it and rolling it right off and never looking back. Its hard to fight the idea but I know how much work would be involved then and I'm not going there yet.

Well if your going to get rid of the body why did you cut the tub up? Finish what you started and get the body work done.

mockup drawing of the new hood to be. Red lines are the hood, black line is the stinger front bumper where the hood will rest when tilted forward. I unscientifically(with paint) drew an imaginary line so the stinger will be long enough that in case of a roll the truck will rest on the roof/interior cage and the stinger and not on my motor.
