Merry Christmas everyone!
Well, the Tahoe is no more. My wife and I went to SoCal to pick up another M1009 Blazer in November. We were heading back to Phoenix when the trailer got away from us with a gust of wind near Pine Valley on I-8 and put the trailer into sway, despite the right equipment. Trying to pull out the sway, I hit the manual control on the trailer brakes when the right side brakes on the trailer locked up, sending the trailer into a violent 90 degree sway that was irrecoverable. After about 1/4 mile the trailer and Blazer spun the Tahoe out and sent it into the guardrail. When the trailer came around again, the Tahoe was flipped on its side and the Blazer came off of the trailer, flipping twice in the air and landing on its roof. All of this occured on a bridge over a 600' canyon with a semi truck directly behind us. With the belly of the Tahoe facing oncoming traffic, the semi was able to stop a mere 20' from the our truck. If the trailer had separated from the ball, we would have went over the side when the Tahoe rolled.
We were OK, but definitely shook up...things like this definitely clarify what really matters in life!
The Tahoe was totalled with over $10K in damage, the Blazer was a total loss and the trailer seems to be a loss as well.
Oh well...we're alive!
With the settlement from the Tahoe, I have acquired a new Suburban: a 1995 K2500 LT with 42K miles and a big block.
So, I need to renew my membership to CK5 Sub-culture.
Hope everyone has a great holiday season!
