Shipping axles

I live in Austin, Tx and have reacently purcahced 2 axles in the Washington DC area. The best deal I've been able to find to get the axles shipped is $430 from Yellow Trucking. This seems pretty expensive, does anybody know a better way? Please help!

Re: Shipping axles

Good luck ... those axles probably weigh 500 pounds or likely more depending on what you got ...

Re: Shipping axles

I've heard people quote low prices using Forwardair. I'm not sure if it's the right spelling. Only negative is that the person that's shipping it needs to drop it off at a decent size airport and they might not be willing to.

I found that Overnite is cheaper than Yellow Freight by 20-30% so you might give them a try.

If you haven't done it yet, set up an account with Yellow Feight or Overnite and ask them for a discount. 40-50% is not unreasonable to ask for. 2 axles for $450 from DC is about right with a decent discount from Yellow Freight though.

Good Luck!

Re: Shipping axles

Would you mind telling me which company?

I ship heavy stuff occasionally and am always interested in saving money.
