truck rear window removal?

82 k10. is there any way to get the whole thing out of there without:

A-breaking the glass
B-destroying the rubber seal
C-cutting sheetmetal

i can handle doing one of the above, preferably B, but can i do it and have everythign in one peice when im done? thanks in advance.

Re: truck rear window removal?

yeah, ya need to a) remove the seal at the top of the tailgate and then b) unbolt the glass. when u pop the cover off the gate and look inside there you ought to be able to see the metal bracket things that have the bolts at the bottom of the glass. Once its unbolted its just a matter of working it out of the slot in the top of the 'gate.

get one corner of the window seal pushed out and put a small rope thru the opening and work it around under the seal until the glass and the seal come out. Use gloves and an extra set of hands always helps. i have done this several times and have never broke anything.

Re: truck rear window removal?

mke some dawn dish soap sopay water and put that in a squirt bottle and soak the seal lip all way around inside of cab sie of it and start peeling up inside corner and push on glass you can push harder than you think on back glass it is tough and wont break but i recommend wearing leather welder glove, evne though i never do excpeton someof the 70-older pickups that dont have tempered glass back window,.
73-up are good tempered safety though
but still..

rope when installing is the trick to installplus someone to push while you peel the stripping over on inside of cab whil you pull rope at same time,
